Sexual Minority Adolescent Stress Inventory (SMASI)

The Sexual Minority Adolescent Stress Inventory (SMASI) (Schrager, Goldbach, & Mamey, 2018) is a 64-item measure that assesses proximal and distal stressors in sexual minority adolescents (SMA). It is comprised of 11 subscales, including proximal stressor such as domains of internalized homonegativity, identity management, intersectionality, and negative expectancies. Distal stressors included social marginalization, family rejection, homonegative climate, homonegative communication, negative disclosure experiences, religion, and work domains.

ranslation Information:

The SMASI measure is available in the following languages: English and Spanish. Translation was acquired by the Computer Assisted Culturally Informed and Flexible Family-Based Treatment for Adolescents (CA CIFFTA) (Grant #R01DA027920-01) study team. Method for translation was the following: translation, back translation, and comparison/reconciliation by a third party in consultation with other native speakers as needed.
