The Perceived Stress Scale is a 14 item measure of the degree to which situations in one's life are appraised as stressful with responses rated on a 5-point Likert scale (0 =never to 4 =very often). There are two shorter versions, one consisting of 10 items and another of 4 items (for telephone interviews).
The version of the scale that appears on this site is the 14 item version. The wording in question 4 differs slightly from the original in that it asks: How often in the last month have you dealt successfully with "irritating life hassles"? rather than how often in the last month have you dealt successfully with "day to day problems and annoyances"?
The Spanish version of the measure that appears on this site is European Spanish version (Remor, 2006).
