CAGE

The CAGE (Ewing, 1984) is a 4 item questionnaire used to assist in making a diagnosis of alcoholism. The name of the questionnaire is an acronym for the questions that focus on Cutting down, Annoyance by criticism, Guilty feeling and Eye-openers.

Translation Information:

The CAGE was translated to Spanish by the VIDA Study (University of Miami Protocol #20070292) team, Principal Investigator Dr. Elias Vasquez.  The translation process consisted of 3 steps:  translation, back translation, and comparison/reconciliation by a third party in consultation with other native speakers as needed.
