Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test -C (AUDIT-C)

The Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test-C is a 3 item alcohol screen that can help identify persons who are hazardous drinker or have active alcohol use disorders (including alcohol abuse or dependence). The AUDIT-C is a modified version of the 10 question AUDIT instrument that was developed from a six-country WHO collaborative project as a screening instrument for hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption that covers the domains of alcohol consumption, drinking behavior, and alcohol-related problems (Saunders et al., 1993).

Translation Information:

The AUDIT-C was translated to Spanish by the College Alcohol Problems Study (University of Miami protocol # 20121057) team, Principal Investigator, Dr. Brian McCabe.  The translation process consisted of 3 steps:  translation, back translation, and comparison/reconciliation by a third party in consultation with other native speakers as needed.
