AIDS Health Belief Scale (AHBS)

The 16 item AIDS Health Belief Scale (Zagumny & Brady, 1998) was developed to measure the four components of the health belief model as it pertains to HIV: perceived susceptibility to disease, perceived severity of a specific disease, perceived benefits of preventive behavior, and perceived barriers to preventive behavior.

The 19 item AIDS Health Belief Scale Modified was developed by investigators from the SETA Study (University of Miami Protocol #20000255) by using 11 items from the AIDS Health Belief Scale and adding 8 additional items.
