Education and Training


The Research Education and Training Core aims to equip emerging investigators and health professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct culturally competent research, for Hispanics and other minority groups, through successful coursework, mentoring and collaboration with investigators who are associated with El Centro. The following table presents the learning opportunities that will be offered by the Research Education and Training Core.

  • Health Disparities Research Series Courses (for undergraduate, graduate and medical students, and health professionals
  • Research Practica (for graduate and medical students)
  • Seminars, Lectures and Workshops (for undergraduate, graduate and medical students, health professionals and faculty)
  • Advanced Intensive Training (for advanced graduate students and junior investigators)
    • Summer Research Training Institute under the auspices of the National Hispanic Science Network on Drug Abuse.
    • Hispanic Health Disparities Research Post-Doctoral Fellowship (in 2010)
